Xmas in Hong Kong
We spent Christmas in Hong Kong (can't believe I'm writing this in March!) ... been a wee bit busy.
Fabulous, relaxing time with great tropical weather.
Morning we spent opening presents and we also went to the morning service @ St John's Cathedral ... bit strange to be singing Christmas Hymns in 28 degree heat & partially in Cantonese. The priest was delivering his childrens' sermon and said something like "Xmas trees are a very important part of Christmas. Does anyone know why they're green?". Stupid question asks for a sensible answer. So against a backdrop of 100% silence, Archie shouts out "BECAUSE THEY'RE TREES!". Well, he's right, but it was funny. The answer the priest was looking for was akin to "perpetual renewal" or some such like ... stupid theme for a kids' sermon if you ask me.
Afternoon, we spent with our friends "The Fawcetts" and their family @ their apartment in Stanley. They'd really pushed the boat out in terms of hospitality; drink; entertainment etc etc. Including a piano singalong at the end of the evening.
Very festive!
