Easter in Hong Kong: melted eggs & parential ambition
Easter in Hong Kong was a bit of an anti climax to be honest. It was great to get x3 public holidays instead of the two in the UK, but we usually spend Easter with rellies -- so a bit flat without that happening.
The 'extra' day was a grave-sweeping day (again -- like the one in the Autumn last year ... loads of people spent the time cleaning their ancestors' tombs).
Choc eggs melted of course!
Easter Sunday: there was a party on the green outside of the block .... a small fete. Billy had a go at rock-climbing. And there was a most absurd easter egg hunt. A small lawned area was roped off ... plastic eggs were distributed all over it. The (100+) children were then set off to collect as many eggs as poss. The kid with the most eggs got a big choc. egg. As per normal, the chinese parents turned out to be hugely aggressive on their children's behalf ... there's a massive need to be seen to be successful in everything here.
